Under existing laws, small craft brewers pay a federal excise tax of $7 per barrel on the first 60,000 barrels of beer brewed. The "beer stimulus bill" would cut that in half to $3.50 per barrel.

A former Cottage Grove police officer was sentenced to five years in prison Tuesday for possessing hundreds of images of child pornography.  Court documents show Kim Scott Graham had more than 1,000 images of child porn.

The small sedan rammed the 10-year-old girl as she rode her bike down River Loop #1, knocking her to ground. The driver, Malcolm Gerlach, got out of the car, grabbed the girl by the hair, pulled her into his car and drove off. A year later, a judge sentenced him to 130 years in prison.

Judge Gregory Foote had harsh words for the two Eugene men convicted of beating Herbert Bishop, a homeless man, to death last May. "Mr. Bishop was a human being. He had worth. People cared about him. He had friends," said Foote. "He was a welcome member of this community. You are not, at least not now."
